Man City release letter criticizing Premier League for misleading decision in court case

A bank in the United Arab Emirates, earlier this year. The Premier League banned the club from signing with the two sponsors because they were related to the club’s owners. Which is against Associated Party Transactions (APT) rules. Which prohibit people connected to a club from sponsoring the ทางเข้า ufabet team.

After the verdict, Man City released a statement saying that the arbitration panel had ruled in favor of the club because the APT rules were contrary to UK competition law. And that the Premier League could not ignore the transaction as a form of shareholder loans. As had been the case with other clubs such as Arsenal and Brighton.

The Premier League, meanwhile, released a statement in response saying the tribunal had ruled in City’s favour on only two points. Which were only a small part of the overall claim. And that the tribunal still considered the APT rules necessary and should be in place for the Profit and Sustainability Rule (PSR) to be effectively enforced.

Simon Cliff, City’s general counsel, later sent an open letter to the Premier League and its 19 other clubs. Saying the Premier League’s statement misled the judgement and was inaccurate on several points.

The Premier League declined to comment on the matter. But the BBC quoted a senior league official. As saying the league’s statement was not misleading or inaccurate as City have claimed.

The league is set to discuss the decision of the arbitration panel with the 20 Premier League clubs at its next meeting. But no vote on rule changes will be taken at this time.
